Abstract

|
12 cases of intraabdominal tuberculosis were subjected to operation during past 4 years in Surgical Department of Sacred Heart Hospital.
In none of these cases, preoperative diagnosis of tuberculous lesions was made. Preoperative -diagnosis include: 3 cases of acute appendicitis, 2 cases of peritonitis, 3 cases of intestinal obstruction, 1 case of intestinal fistula and one of each tumor of stomach, duodenum and pelvic cavity.
In 8 of these 12 cases, pulmonary tuberculosis were associated in active or arrested form.
In 5 of 8 cases, the pulmonary lesions were active and 2 of them were under antituberculous :treatment before operation for abdominal maladies. There was no operative mortality and all was ´.subjected to antituberculous medication after operations. No statistical analysis was made on present series, since the cases are too small for any statistical significance. However, the present series .,show that intrabdominal tuberculosis are more prevalent in female than in male and young, :active ages are more frequently affected.
A brief discussion was given regarding to the cause, the pathplogical type, clinical symptom sand treatment of intrabdominal tuberculosis.
